OptiCop Converger: P-Series

As transport networks continue to break speed barriers and convergence of traffic migrates from circuit to packet, network operators face new challenges in monitoring the services being provided. While Packet Over SONET/SDH (POS) and Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) enable operators and users to more flexibly and efficiently utilize network bandwidth by converging services, each service needs to be measured independently relative to the expectations of the customer. OptiCop Converger and its Hybrid Inspection Technology (HIT) provide a means to leverage existing investments in test and monitoring tools.

Monitoring Access

The P-Series OptiCop Converger systems can be configured to meet the most demanding applications, with the ability to monitor OTN, SONET/SDH services carrying POS and GFP circuits ranging from OC-3/STM-1 through OTU2,OC-192/STM-64. With up to 24 network/tool interfaces, the P-Series OptiCop Converger can monitor multiple circuits in either half or full duplex scenarios and will operate in conjunction with Automatic Protection Switching, ensuring monitoring applications always have the access they need.

The P-Series OptiCop Converger is available four different models. The P-1200 and P-2400 support a maximum line speed of OC12/STM-4 while the P-4400 and P-8800 support a maximum line speed of OTU2, OC192/STM-64. All models are available with either a fixed relationship between network inputs and tool outputs or with optional traffic routing, where the input to output relationship becomes a user defined logical path. The table below illustrates example port configurations available. (Note: In certain input to output aggregation configurations, traffic inspection and filtering are required to prevent over subscription)
